CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has revealed a $250 billion effort to finance vital infrastructure developments across the United States. Spanning 18 months, the program covers eligible activities from January 1, 2026, through July 4, 2027. Its focus includes investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and core public facilities. The bank stated that the initiative aims to bolster projects related to technology, power generation, transportation, water infrastructure, and other crucial sectors.

This Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative extends beyond standard lending practices. Bank of America will incorporate qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services into the $250 billion goal. The program also encompasses banking solutions and supply-chain management tied to eligible infrastructure projects. Funding can support both corporate entities and individual assets. The bank intends to leverage its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions as it collaborates with clients seeking capital for significant projects within the U.S.

Digital infrastructure is among the core focus areas of the program. Eligible initiatives include data centers, telecommunication networks, semiconductor manufacturing, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy segment covers traditional and renewable power generation, storage, and distribution systems. Essential infrastructure projects involve transportation networks, electricity transmission, grid upgrades, water systems, and the extraction of critical minerals. Bank of America also highlighted that the initiative responds to increasing infrastructure demands in manufacturing, energy supply, computing, and domestic supply chains.

Focus on technology, energy, and fundamental infrastructure

Coordination of the program will be managed by Bank of America’s Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams, with all eight business units actively involved. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, emphasized that the initiative emphasizes infrastructure that underpins economic growth, energy security, and technological innovation. The bank plans to monitor qualifying transactions over the 18-month period, which will contribute toward the overarching $250 billion commitment.

Supporting employment and workforce development is another key goal of the initiative. The bank noted that infrastructure projects can generate jobs in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. It also backs training programs through collaborations with employers, nonprofit organizations, and community colleges. In 2025, the bank allocated nearly $40 million to more than 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets, focusing on skills training, education, and job readiness programs.

The financing effort extends through July 2027

During 2025, the bank reported that its workforce partners connected over 90,000 individuals with job opportunities. These organizations also provided training, education, or career-readiness programs to more than 290,000 people. These figures are separate from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, stated that large-scale infrastructure projects require coordinated funding across multiple sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.

Progress tracking will be based on eligible financing activities completed within the program’s timeframe. The bank explained that this approach aligns with the framework used for its existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance objective. The new initiative emphasizes infrastructure development and modernization in the United States. Its end date of July 4, 2027, surpasses the nation’s 250th anniversary. The bank expressed that this effort will promote infrastructure growth, job creation, economic activity, and community development nationwide.
